Aim
- Education - By engaging student volunteers in community service activities, students learn the value of service and labour; and they also acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes that help them become responsible and productive for social welfare.
- Personality Development - Providing various opportunities to work with diverse groups of people, participation in activities that build character, such as community service projects imbibes leadership skills, communication skills, and sense of social responsibility.
- Community Development - The development of communities is possible by engaging students in various social welfare activities which includes promoting health and hygiene, environmental conservation, literacy campaigns, and promoting social justice.
- National Integration - The NSS seeks to promote national integration by involving students from different regions, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds in community service activities. Through this, students learn to appreciate and respect the diversity and become catalyst of social change.
- Skill Development - To develop the skills and knowledge of students by providing them with opportunities to learn new skills and acquire knowledge in various fields such as health, environment, and community development.
- Voluntary Work - The NSS promotes the spirit of voluntary work among students, which is essential for the development of a strong and inclusive society.
Activities
- Awareness campaigns and community service projects on various social issues such as health, hygiene, environment, and social welfare. These campaigns may include activities such as rallies, poster making, and street plays.
- Fundraising for social causes and charity events, Disaster management and relief activities during natural calamities.
- Workshops and training programs on leadership, communication, team building, and personal development.
- Participation in cultural and sports events at the local and national level. Blood donation camps in collaboration with hospitals and blood banks to encourage students to donate blood and save lives.
- Swachh Bharat Abhiyan participation
Special Camp
It is a week-long residential camp that is organized annually for NSS volunteers in rural or backward areas to undertake community service projects. The Special Camp provides an opportunity for NSS volunteers to engage in more intensive community service activities than what is normally done during regular NSS activities. It is also an opportunity for volunteers to experience rural life, understand the challenges faced by rural communities, and work with them towards their development. The Special Camp is usually organized during the winter vacation, and volunteers are required to stay in the camp for the entire duration of the program. The camp is organized in collaboration with local communities, and the activities undertaken during the camp are determined based on the needs of the community.
The activities undertaken during the Special Camp include:
- Construction of water harvesting structures, and other infrastructure facilities in the community.
- Awareness campaigns on health and hygiene, environmental conservation, and social issues such as drug abuse and child marriage.
- Plantation drives related to environmental conservation.
- Conducting health camps and blood donation camps
- Conducting literacy and numeracy campaigns
- Engaging with local communities to identify their needs and concerns, and providing support and assistance
Activities in Academic Year 2024-25
On June , 2024, our college celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and participation from both students and faculty. The event featured esteemed resource persons from the Art of Living, Swati Marathe and Pratik Gadgil.
The session included a variety of activities focused on enhancing physical and mental well-being. Participants engaged in stretching and flexibility exercises designed to improve their overall fitness. Additionally, Swati Marathe and Pratik Gadgil guided everyone through a series of meditation and mind relaxation techniques, fostering a sense of inner peace and tranquility.
This event highlighted the importance of yoga in daily life and provided valuable insights into maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. It was a rewarding experience for all attendees, promoting wellness and unity within our college community.
The NSS Unit (A-SF-198) of MES Senior College celebrated Constitution Day on 26th November 2024 with great enthusiasm. The program commenced with a collective reading of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, led by Principal Dr. Ravindra Vaidya Sir. Chief Guest Shri. Sagar Shinde, Convener of Vivek Vichar Manch, Maharashtra State, delivered an insightful speech on the Indian Constitution, highlighting its significance in shaping a democratic and inclusive society. The program concluded with the National Anthem.

MES Senior College NSS unit collaborated with Balasaheb Devras Polyclinic to organize a Hemogram Testing Camp at MES English Medium School and Junior College in Shirval, Pune on 19th and 20th January 2024. The initiative aimed to promote health awareness among school kids.
Activities in Academic Year 2022-23
MES Senior College's NSS unit commemorated Universal Brotherhood Day by paying tribute to Swami Vivekananda's iconic speech on September 11, 1893, at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago. This historic address, often dubbed his "Chicago Address," remains a timeless message promoting the harmony of all religions and the significance of tolerance and acceptance in society.
Swami Vivekananda's words continue to resonate as a call for unity and understanding among diverse faiths. He emphasized that all religions are pathways to the same ultimate truth and encouraged people to embrace this diversity rather than let it divide them. His message highlights the importance of transcending religious boundaries and promoting mutual respect.
Universal Brotherhood Day serves as a reminder to celebrate our shared humanity and foster goodwill among individuals of different backgrounds and beliefs. It is an occasion to reflect on Swami Vivekananda's teachings and strive for a world where tolerance and acceptance are valued, paving the way for a more peaceful and harmonious coexistence.
मयेसो सिनिअर कॉलेज पुणे च्या राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना एकक वतीने यंदा प्रथमतःच गणेशोत्सव व्याख्यानमालेचे आयोजन करण्यात आले. अनेकविध विषयांची मांडणी करून त्याद्वारे वैचारिक प्रबोधनास वातावरणनिर्मिती करणे या उद्देशाने या व्याख्यानमालेचे आयोजन दिनांक २५ व २६ सप्टेंबर २०२३ रोजी करण्यात आले.
छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांच्या शिवराज्याभिषेकाला ३५० वर्षे पूर्ण झालेली असल्यामुळे व्याख्यानमालेचा मुख्य आशय शिवराज्याभिषेक ठरवण्यात आला. याच अनुषंगाने छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांची व्यवस्थापन कौशल्ये व शिवराज्याभिषेक या दोन व्याख्यानांची प्रस्तुती निमंत्रित इतिहास जाणकारांकडून करण्यात आली. वक्त्यांचे अभ्यासपूर्ण विवेचन व श्रोत्यांच्या उस्फुर्त प्रतिसादामुळे व्याख्यानमालेचे आयोजन सफल झाले.
व्याख्यानमालेचे पहिले व्याख्यान शिवाजी महाराजांची व्यवस्थापन कौशल्ये या विषयावर आयोजित करण्यात आले होते. कार्यक्रमाचे वक्ते श्री. सारंग भोईरकर व श्री. सारंग मांडके यांनी गोष्ट येथे संपत नाही या कथाकथनाद्वारे शिवाजी महाराजांचे युद्धनीती शास्त्र, संरचनात्मक मांडणी, आर्थिक नियोजन, गुणग्राहकता व दूरदृष्टी याबद्दल अतिशय विस्तृत माहिती दिली.
अनेक ऐतिहासिक प्रसंगांना या वेळेस उजाळा देण्यात आला तसेच अफजलखान वध या प्रसंगामधून शिवाजी महाराजांची व्यवस्थापन कौशल्ये किती अचूक व प्रभावी होती हे श्रोत्यांना ऐतिहासिक दाखल्यांमधून समजावून सांगितले.
व्याख्यानमालेचे दुसरे व्याख्यान सुधीर थोरात (कार्यवाह, श्री शिवाजी रायगड स्मारक मंडळ, पुणे) यांचे शिवराज्याभिषेक आणि त्याचे दूरगामी परिणाम या विषयावर झाले.
सुधीर थोरात म्हणाले, छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांनी निर्माण केलेल्या स्वराज्यामुळे त्यांच्या मृत्यूनंतरही मराठा सरदार हे औरंगजेबाशी निकराने लढू शकले. त्यांनी औरंगजेबाशी लढा दिल्यामुळे इतर हिंदुस्थानामध्ये हिंदू साम्राज्य निर्माण होण्यास मदत झाली. छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांनी केवळ स्वराज्य निर्माण केले नाही तर हिंदूंना संरक्षण दिले त्यातून हिंदू संस्कृती कशाप्रकारे विकसित होऊ शकेल यासाठी ही प्रयत्न केले.
छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांच्या काळाचा अत्यंत बारकाईने तरुणांनी अभ्यास करणे गरजेचे आहे. त्यांच्या केवळ युद्धनीतीचा नव्हे तर व्यवस्थापन कौशल्य, भाषाशास्त्र या विविध अंगांचा अभ्यास केल्यास तरुणांना आजच्या काळामध्ये हिंदू समाजासोबत आणि त्यांच्या वैयक्तिक आयुष्यामध्ये येणाऱ्या समस्यांना कशा प्रकारे तोंड देणे गरजेचे आहे याचे धडे घेता येतील, त्यामुळे छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज आणि त्यांनी निर्माण केलेल्या स्वराज्याचा अभ्यास हा आजच्या प्रत्येक तरुणांनी करणे गरजेचे आहे, असेही सुधीर थोरात यांनी यावेळी सांगितले.
On 24th September and 1st October 2023 the NSS Unit of MES Senior College organized a Clay Sludge Collection Activity in collaboration with Punarāvartan. This eco-friendly initiative aimed to address the issue of clay sludge waste while promoting environmental sustainability. Students and volunteers actively participated in collecting and managing clay sludge from various sources, contributing to a cleaner and greener community.
On the occasion of World AIDS Day, MES Senior College, National Service Scheme (NSS) unit organized an activity to foster awareness and solidarity in the fight against AIDS.
Students actively participated in this activity by taking a pledge and subsequently leaving their signatures on a poster.
On the occasion of Constitution Day MES SENIOR COLLEGE National Service Scheme (NSS) unit conducted a program: which consisted of informative discussion on important aspects of the Constitution, a general awareness quiz about the Constitution and collective recitation of the Preamble of the Constitution.
