वासुदेव बळवंत फडके : भारतीय सशस्त्र स्वातंत्र्यलढ्याचे जनक
वासुदेव बळवंत फडके हे नाव ऐकलं की आपल्यासमोर उभा राहतो तो एक धैर्यशील, निडर आणि राष्ट्रभक्त क्रांतिकारक. त्यांनी स्वातंत्र्य मिळवण्यासाठी शस्त्र उचललं, पण त्याचबरोबर शिक्षण आणि समाजजागृती हेदेखील स्वातंत्र्याच्या पायाभूत गोष्टी आहेत, हेही त्यांनी पटवून दिलं. म्हणूनच ते केवळ क्रांतिकारक नव्हे, तर शिक्षणतज्ज्ञ आणि सामाजिक सुधारणावादी म्हणूनही ओळखले जातात.
वासुदेव बळवंत फडके यांचा जन्म ४ नोव्हेंबर १८४५ रोजी रायगड जिल्ह्यातील शिर्डों या गावात झाला. लहानपणापासून त्यांना शिवाजी महाराजांच्या गाथा ऐकायला मिळाल्या, ज्यातून त्यांच्या मनात स्वराज्याची ठिणगी पेटली. पुढे त्यांनी मुंबई विद्यापीठातून शिक्षण घेतलं आणि पुण्यातील मिलिटरी फायनान्स ऑफिसमध्ये नोकरी धरली. पण ब्रिटिशांच्या अन्यायकारक धोरणांमुळे आणि भारतीय जनतेच्या दारिद्र्यामुळे त्यांच्या मनात संताप निर्माण झाला.
फडके यांना ठाम विश्वास होता की “शिक्षणाशिवाय स्वातंत्र्य अपूर्ण आहे”. म्हणून त्यांनी त्यांच्या सहकाऱ्यांसह १८६० मध्ये ‘Poona Native Institution’ ची स्थापना केली, ज्याचे पुढे नाव Maharashtra Education Society (MES) असे ठेवण्यात आले. या संस्थेमार्फत ते भारतीय विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये स्वाभिमान, देशभक्ती आणि स्वावलंबनाची भावना जागृत करू इच्छित होते. MES ही आजही शिक्षण क्षेत्रात अग्रगण्य संस्था आहे आणि तिच्या माध्यमातून फडके यांची विचारसरणी पुढे नेली जात आहे.
१८७९ साली वासुदेव बळवंत फडके यांनी थेट सशस्त्र लढ्याचा मार्ग स्वीकारला. त्यांनी शेतकरी, धनगर, कोळी, रामोशी यांसारख्या वंचित समाजघटकांना एकत्र करून ब्रिटिशांविरुद्ध चळवळ उभारली. त्यांच्या तुकडीने पुणे आणि कोकण परिसरात अनेक ठिकाणी हल्ले करून ब्रिटिश शासनाला हादरवून सोडले. या कृतीमुळे ते ब्रिटिशांच्या नजरेत “द्रोही” ठरले, पण भारतीयांच्या नजरेत “स्वातंत्र्यसैनिक”. अखेरीस ते पकडले गेले आणि अंडमान बेटावरच्या तुरुंगात त्यांचा १७ फेब्रुवारी १८८३ रोजी मृत्यू झाला.
त्यांचे जीवन हे एक जाज्वल्य उदाहरण आहे की स्वातंत्र्यासाठी केवळ शस्त्र नव्हे, तर ज्ञान आणि शिक्षण हेही आवश्यक आहे. फडके यांनी समाजातील सामान्य माणसाला स्वातंत्र्यलढ्यात सामील करून घेतलं आणि “आपण सर्वजण या मातृभूमीचे समान वारसदार आहोत” हे दाखवून दिलं.
आजच्या काळात वासुदेव बळवंत फडके यांची विचारसरणी अधिकच प्रासंगिक वाटते. त्यांनी सांगितलेली स्वावलंबनाची आणि आत्मसन्मानाची शिकवण तरुण पिढीने आत्मसात करणे आवश्यक आहे. शिक्षणाद्वारे समाजबदल आणि अन्यायाविरुद्ध लढा देणे — हेच त्यांच्या कार्याचं खऱ्या अर्थाने अनुकरण ठरेल.
त्यांचा संदेश आजही तितकाच प्रभावी आहे:
“देशप्रेम हे फक्त घोषणांमध्ये नसून कृतीत दिसलं पाहिजे.”
वासुदेव बळवंत फडके यांनी भारतीय स्वातंत्र्यलढ्याची ज्योत पेटवली. त्यांच्या त्याग, देशभक्ती आणि दूरदृष्टीने पुढील क्रांतिकारकांना प्रेरणा मिळाली. म्हणूनच इतिहासात त्यांना योग्यच मान मिळाला आहे — “भारतीय सशस्त्र स्वातंत्र्यलढ्याचे जनक” म्हणून.

In the wake of recent escalations along the India-Pakistan border, a new and silent frontier of conflict has emerged—cyberspace. While India’s armed forces execute strategic operations such as Operation Sindoor to combat cross-border terrorism, a quieter, more insidious war is underway—one not fought with bullets, but with bytes.

The spread of false narratives aimed at inciting unrest and distrust is now a recognized threat vector, with implications as serious as those of kinetic warfare.
This evolution signals a paradigm shift in national security. The 21st-century soldier may no longer be stationed at the border. Instead, they might be seated behind a screen—identifying digital threats, strengthening firewalls, neutralizing malware, or debunking dangerous misinformation. The domain of cybersecurity is not merely a technical challenge but a cornerstone of India’s strategic defense framework.
With India’s digital economy expanding rapidly and reliance on data-driven systems growing across sectors, cyber resilience is no longer optional. Government agencies, enterprises, educational institutions, and citizens alike must acknowledge that cyber attacks recognize no boundaries. A single breach can compromise financial systems, public infrastructure, or individual identities with equal ease.
Reports of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) investing heavily in cyber warfare capabilities underscore the urgency for India to bolster its digital defense preparedness. This preparedness cannot be confined to national security agencies alone—it must include a well-trained and cyber-aware youth population.
Educational Institutions: The Digital Defense Academies of Tomorrow
Academic institutions now have a critical role to play. By incorporating cutting-edge topics such as ethical hacking, network security, cyber forensics, data encryption, and cyber law into their curricula, they are building the foundational infrastructure for India’s cyber defense. These subjects are no longer optional or reserved for niche specialization—they are essential disciplines that align with national interest.
The transformation of classrooms into hubs of technical excellence and civic responsibility is imperative. The students of today are the digital defenders of tomorrow. Their training must equip them not only with practical skills but also with a deep understanding of the ethical and societal dimensions of cybersecurity.
As cyber threats grow in complexity and geopolitical intent, so must our strategies to counter them. The demand for cyber security professionals is projected to surge in the coming years, driven by increasing vulnerabilities in national infrastructure, financial systems, healthcare, and individual data protection.
Institutions across India are beginning to recognize this. The establishment of Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Cyber Security, along with short-term certifications and centers of excellence, are helping channel youth potential toward safeguarding the nation’s digital sovereignty.
Conclusion: Information Is Power—Securing It Is a Responsibility
In a world where information equates to power, protecting that information becomes a strategic imperative. India’s response to cyber threats must be proactive, multifaceted, and inclusive—beginning with education and awareness.
Cybersecurity professionals are no longer just IT specialists. They are guardians of national integrity, protectors of democratic discourse, and first responders in a new age of warfare. As the line between physical and digital threats continues to blur, India’s true strength will lie not only in its armed forces but in the skilled, conscious minds it nurtures within its classrooms.

MES’ Senior College is established by M. E. Society for providing quality education and technical expertise at the Under Graduation Level in the Fields of Computers and Management. College is located at 131, Mayur Colony, Kothrud, Pune-411 029 having 30,000 sq.ft. built area. The main motto of the College is to instill the concepts of total personality development in the students.

आंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिनानिमित्त म ए सो सिनियर कॉलेज आणि लघु उद्योग भारती यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने 9 मार्च 2024 रोजी उद्योगिनी महिला उद्योग प्रदर्शनाचे महाविद्यालयात आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. या कार्यक्रमाचे उद्घाटन सौ. मोनिका मुरलीधर मोहोळ, माजी नगरसेविका आणि माजी स्थायी समिती सदस्य तसेच आनंदी ताई पाटील, यशस्वी उद्योजिका, म ए सो नियामक मंडळाच्या उपाध्यक्षा यांच्या हस्ते झाले.या कार्यक्रम प्रसंगी बोलताना सौ. मोनिकाताई मुरलीधर मोहोळ यांनी उद्योग क्षेत्रातील महिला सशक्तिकरण यावर भाष्य व महिलांना उद्योगाबाबत प्रेरित करणे याबाबतचे महत्त्व अधोरेखित केले. तसेच आनंदीताई पाटील यांनी विद्यार्थ्यांनी आपले कलागुण आणि आवड लक्षात घेऊन उद्योग क्षेत्राकडे वळावे व आपले विश्व निर्माण करावे याबाबत मार्गदर्शन केले. महाविद्यालयातील विद्यार्थी विद्यार्थिनींना यशस्वी उद्योजक होण्याकरता प्रेरित करणे हा या कार्यक्रमाचा हेतू होता. या उद्योगिनी महिला उद्योजक प्रदर्शन कार्यक्रमामध्ये महाविद्यालयीन विद्यार्थिनींनी आणि पालकांनी विविध प्रकारच्या उत्पादनांचे, सौंदर्य प्रसाधने, खाद्यपदार्थ, अलंकार, बॅग्स असे स्टॉल्स लावून सहभाग नोंदविला. या कार्यक्रमाला डॉ. राजीव हजरनीस, श्री विजय भालेराव यांनी सदिच्छा भेट देऊन कौतुक केले. याप्रसंगी महाविद्यालयाचे प्राचार्य डॉ. रवींद्र वैद्य, उपप्राचार्या डॉ. पूनम रावत, स्टार्ट अप सेल समन्वयक प्रा. निलेश यादव, विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. राहुल शिंदे, डॉ. सुरेखा वैद्य, प्रा. नेहा कुलकर्णी व सर्व प्राध्यापक वर्ग, शिक्षकेतर, कर्मचारी वर्ग, विद्यार्थी उपस्थित होते. स्टार्टअप इनोवेशन सेल अंतर्गत या कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.

दि 9 मार्च 2024 या दिवशी माता पालक मेळावा या माता पालकांसोबत संवाद आणि सन्मान या कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.
या कार्यक्रमासाठी प्रमुख पाहुणे व वक्ता म्हणून सौ अनघा लवळेकर
संचालक, प्रज्ञा मानस संशोधिका ज्ञानप्रबोधिनी पुणे उपस्थित होत्या. या मेळाव्या प्रसंगी सौ. अनघा लवळेकर
यांनी महिलांनी आपले स्वतःचे स्थान निर्माण करण्यासाठी सतत प्रयत्नशील असले पाहिजे तसेच मुलां सोबत सुसंवाद ठेवून सुसंस्कार केले पाहिजेत याबाबत संवाद साधला. या कार्यक्रम प्रसंगी अनेक विद्यार्थिनी व महिला पालक उपप्राचार्या पूनम रावत, सर्व महिला प्राध्यापिका उपस्थित होत्या.
कार्यक्रमाचे नियोजन विभाग प्रमुख प्रा. नेहा कुलकर्णी यांनी केले.
“म.ए.सो. सीनियर कॉलेज मध्ये निर्भय कन्या अभियान संपन्न झाले. महिला सक्षमीकरण, मानसिक आरोग्य या विषयी व्याख्यान आयोजित करण्यात आले होते. बाया कर्वे स्त्री अभ्यास आणि संशोधन केंद्र या मध्ये कार्यरत असणाऱ्या सौ. समृद्धी पानसे यांनी यामध्ये महिलांचे सक्षमीकरण या विषयावर सखोल मार्गदर्शन केले. मानशास्त्रीय विकास संबंधी सौ.विशाखा जोगदेव मॅडम यांनी मार्गदर्शन केले.तसेच स्वसंरक्षण प्रशिक्षण घेण्यात आले. त्या मध्ये चैतन्य बोडके सर यांनी विद्यार्थिनींना अनेक प्रकारच्या कौशल्यांचे प्रशिक्षण दिले. तसेच छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज ह्यांच्या काळामध्ये वापरण्यात आलेल्या युद्धनीतीचे मार्गदर्शन व प्रशिक्षण (लाटी-काठी आणि दांड पट्टा) देण्यात आले. या वेळी महाविद्यालयाचे प्राचार्य डॉ. रवींद्र वैद्य सर तसेच उपप्राचार्य डॉ. पूनम रावत मॅडम, सर्व शिक्षक वृंद व विद्यार्थी सहभागी होते. या मध्ये 104 विद्यार्थ्यांनी सहभाग नोंदवला. कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन रुक्मिणी कुलकर्णी हिने केले.”

Antarang 2023-24 was celebrated from 17th February 2024 to 24th February 2024. Theme day, Bollywood day, Mismatch day & Traditional day was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm by the students. Antarang was concluded by our annual social gathering on 24th February 2024; which included mesmerizing student performances including classical dance, semi classical dance, hip hop & free style, singing, instrumental performances.

Mono Acting competition organized by MES Senior College Pune, Performing Arts Club under Enthusia 2024 on 20th February 2024
On February 21, 2024, MES Senior College Pune, in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, and Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, organized a one-day workshop on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The workshop featured six sessions covering various aspects of IKS:
Dr. Ganti Murthy discussed the concept of IKS, research, and innovation, as well as parampara levels, the four ashramas, and Indian economics framework.
Dr. Mandar Bhanushe explored the relationship between the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and IKS, alongside the origin and branches of the knowledge system and pedagogy.
Dr. Pradeep Apte delved into economic affairs in the Mahabharata, emphasizing the importance of IKS in commerce and management.
Dr. Shashikant Katre focused on IKS in mathematics, covering geometric concepts, Bodhayana Sulbhasutras, Suryasiddhanta, and astronomy.
Dr. Prasad Bhide highlighted IKS in arts and cultural studies, discussing the duality of cognition, Dnyanam Vidnyanam, oral tradition, and textual tradition.
Dr. Smita Lele explored IKS in science, including chemistry concepts, the science
MES Senior College’s Money Minders, the finance club, demonstrated its commitment to financial literacy by organizing a telecast of the Interim Budget for the year 2024. This initiative aimed to keep students abreast of crucial economic developments, fostering a deeper understanding of fiscal policies and their implications. Through this event, Money Minders provided a platform for students to engage in insightful discussions and gain valuable insights into the economic landscape, contributing to their financial education and awareness.
