- College level events include various competitions like dancing, singing, instrumental music, painting etc.
- The annual gathering, “Antarang” comprises of various dance forms, singing, instrumental music, poetry etc.
Activities in Academic Year 2025-26
The Performing Arts Club organised a two-day theatre workshop titled “Unleash the Actor in You”, which was held on 23rd & 24th June 2025 at MES Auditorium, exclusively for MES Senior College students.
Mr. Suraj Parasnis Renowned theatre artist, writer, and director conducted this workshop with extensive experience in theatre production and training.The workshop aimed at nurturing the latent acting talent among students and introducing them to the nuances of theatrical performance. There were 18 students participated in this workshop.
Participants actively engaged in:
- Acting Techniques: Basic to intermediate exercises for expression, body language, and character building.
- Voice Modulation: Breathing, voice control, and dialogue delivery practices.
- Stage Presence: Activities to develop confidence and effective stage communication.
Suraj Parasnis effectively trained the students in various theatre activities and, to enhance their learning, encouraged them to perform a skit at the end of the session, showcasing their creativity and confidence
On 23 rd July 2025, MES Senior College students participated in Symbiosis Karandak 2025, a highly competitive cultural festival hosted by Symbiosis College. The team presented a NatyaVachan (drama reading) titled INTERROGATION, showing conversation between one renowned writer and one new edge writer from village. Activities in Academic Year 2024-25

Enthusia is the college’s annual intra-college competition-based fest that brings out the competitive and creative side of students. Held from 17th to 21st February 2025, the event featured an array of engaging competitions including Rangoli, Mehendi, Photography, Treasure Hunt, and Quiz. The activities witnessed enthusiastic participation across all streams, promoting team collaboration, aesthetic expression, and intellectual engagement. Each competition was judged by subject matter experts and winners were awarded certificates and prizes in a concluding felicitation ceremony.

Antarang is the annual cultural gathering of the college that celebrates the artistic and cultural vibrancy of the student community. Spanning from 17th to 22nd February 2025, the event featured a diverse set of performances such as solo and group dancing, singing, and rap, reflecting the rich talent pool of the institution. In addition to cultural acts, theme-based celebration days like Traditional Day and Bollywood Day added a festive spirit and sense of unity among students. The auditorium buzzed with energy, creativity, and audience appreciation throughout the week.
Together, Enthusia and Antarang created a memorable cultural and creative experience, strengthening the spirit of community and enriching campus life. These events are a true reflection of the college’s commitment to holistic student development beyond academics.
On 14th February 2025, our street play team participated in Dastak, a street play competition organized as part of the Aarohan cultural fest by MIT WPU. The performance stood out, earning the Runner-Up position for its captivating portrayal of contemporary issues. The event brought together students from various colleges, and our team’s dynamic performance was highly appreciated.
The Jallosh 2024 competition, organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), was held at Dr. D. Y. Patil College, Pimpri on 25th September 2024. MES Senior College students participated in multiple categories:
- Aditya Kelkar won the 2nd Prize in Taalvadya (Indian classical percussion), showcasing his skill in traditional instruments.
- Devika Mane secured 3rd Prize in Collage, with her creative expression in art making a significant impact. This event provided students with a platform to exhibit their talents in fine arts, literature, and performing arts.
On 31st July 2024, MES Senior College students participated in Symbiosis Karandak 2024, a highly competitive cultural festival hosted by Symbiosis College. The team presented a NatyaVachan (drama reading) titled Shari, a poignant story about a blind girl’s life journey. The performance was well-received by the audience and judges alike, and Vaishnavi Sathe was awarded the “UtkrushtaVachikAbhinayStee” for her exceptional acting skills. The performance was a powerful demonstration of stagecraft and emotional depth.
- Aditi Patil received the “विशेषउल्लेखनीयदिग्दर्शिका” (Noteworthy Director) award for her innovative direction.
- Vaishnavi Sathe was honoured with the “विशेषलक्षवेधीअभिनेत्री” (Outstanding Actress) award for her standout performance.
Our students performed in the ShivsenaKarandak 2024 on 26th September 2024, with the one-act play Tendulkars. The compelling performance, highlighting the struggles of a middle-class family, earned the team Third Prize. The team’s ability to connect with the audience and effectively convey the narrative was highly praised.
Throughout the year, MES Senior College students demonstrated their dedication to the arts, culture, and intellectual growth by excelling in various intercollegiate events. Their remarkable achievements reflect the institution’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel both inside and outside the classroom.

A German Theatre Competition was jointly organised by the Goethe-Institut Pune and MES Senior College, Pune on Saturday, 7th December 2024. The event took place at the MES Auditorium and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across Maharashtra.
Approximately 150 students from nine schools and three colleges in Pune, along with participants from four institutions based in Kolhapur and Asta, took part in this vibrant theatrical event. The competition served as a platform for young learners to demonstrate their linguistic abilities and stage presence in the German language.
The central theme of the competition was Sustainability and Diversity, topics that hold global relevance and resonate strongly with today’s youth. Through dramatic performances, participants creatively highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, inclusion, cultural harmony, and respect for diverse identities. The theatrical interpretations not only reflected their understanding of sustainability but also encouraged responsible global citizenship.
The event aimed to promote German language learning in an engaging, interactive, and cultural context. Performances showcased a high level of language proficiency, creativity, teamwork, and confidence. Students incorporated a range of expressions—from humor to emotion and satire—to drive home powerful messages while staying true to the theme.
The collaboration between Goethe-Institut Pune and MES Senior College provided students with an enriching cultural experience. The initiative also helped strengthen Indo-German educational and cultural ties while encouraging holistic development among young learners.
The German Theatre Competition was a true celebration of creativity, linguistic talent, and socially responsible storytelling—an inspiring event that left a lasting impact on both participants and the audience.
Jointly Organised by Sanskar Bharati, West Maharashtra Region & MES Senior College, Pune
The prize distribution ceremony of the state-level elocution competition, organized to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of PunyashlokAhilyadevi Holkar, was held on Saturday, 25th January at the MES Senior College auditorium, Pune.
The event was graced by eminent guests including veteran sculpture expert Dr. G.B. Deglurkar, Sanskar Bharati’s State President ShahīrHemantrajeMavale, General Secretary Prashant Kulkarni, Co-Secretary and event head Amit Marathe, Central Officer Satish Kulkarni, College Principal Dr. Ravindra Vaidya, and Vice Principal Mrs. Poonam Rawat.
Finalists from the preliminary district-level rounds participated in the final round in the morning session. Each contestant presented a different topic in both rounds, focusing on biographical speeches. Judging was done by Mr. Pranav kumar Patil and Mrs. Swati Vaidya.

Dr. Deglurkar, in his address, highlighted Ahilyadevi’s exemplary leadership and cultural contributions in the 18th century, urging the youth to draw inspiration from her life.
The program began with an introduction by Rupesh Kumbhar (Sanskar Bharati) and concluded with a vote of thanks by Prashant Kulkarni. The final round was hosted by Madhura Hubalikar, while the prize distribution was anchored by Mrs. Madhuri Joshi. The event concluded with a soulful rendition of VandeMataram by SuhasDivekar.
MES faculty and staff ensured smooth and heartfelt coordination of the entire program.
Jointly Organized by Cosmos Bank and MES Senior College on the Occasion of Youth Day
To celebrate Youth Day and channel the energy and intellect of students, Cosmos Bank and MES Senior College jointly organised an Intercollegiate Street Play and Elocution Competition from 25th January to 6th February 2025. The event aimed not only to foster communication and performance skills but also to inspire awareness of current and socially relevant issues.
A total of 98 students from 12 Pune-based colleges participated. The event was promoted through campus visits by student volunteers from MES Senior College and Coordinators from Cosmos Bank.
Street Play Topics:
- Digital Arrest / Cyber Fraud: Highlighted rising cybercrimes and the need for digital literacy and vigilance.
- Innovative Customer Service in the Banking Sector: Emphasised how technology and customer-centric approaches are shaping the future of banking.
- Say NO to Drugs!: Urged youth to resist substance abuse and promote a healthier society.
Elocution Topics:
- Artificial Intelligence for All: Focused on the inclusive potential of AI and its impact on future careers and daily life.
- The Youth of Today as Envisaged by Swami Vivekananda: Encouraged introspection on youth empowerment, responsibility, and moral leadership.
- Me – A Responsible People’s Representative: Cultivated awareness about civic participation and ethical governance.
Finalists from various colleges competed in the mega rounds. Street Play Mega finals were held at MES Senior College, Pune and the best five teams performed at Kalakar Katta, Deccan on 1st February 2025. Elocution Mega finals on 6th February 2025 at Cosmos Tower, Pune.
